Mission of Burma playing shows in January

Mission of BurmaCitizens of Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, and New York! Rejoice, because the best crew of post-punk revivalist geezers on the planet, Mission of Burma, are playing a handful of shows in January. Here be the dates:

Friday, January 12th - Double Door, Chicago, IL
Saturday, January 13th - Earl, Atlanta, GA
Friday, January 19th - Irving Plaza, New York City
Saturday, January 20th - The Paradise, Boston, MA

Presales are available for Chicago and Atlanta, according to the band’s website, and tickets for the NYC and Boston dates are already on sale. Head to missionofburma.com for more info.

Having seen them about 2 years ago, i can honestly say that these guys still bring it like few others. If you’re sick of all these aging punk rocker reunion tours where the guys are just punching the clock, go see Burma while they’re still active. They’re just as relevant today as they were 26 years ago.

Boston rejoicing in effect! I honestly know jack shit about MoB, but I like it when old people keep producing instead of having comeback tours, so maybe I’ll buy a ticket next time I can get out to Paradise.

It’s worth it just to squee at all the cute precautions Roger Miller takes for his ears (MoB originally broke up because of his tinnitus): industrial-strength headphones, a clear plastic sound barrier between the drummer and him, and positioning the amp directly in front of him and pointing directly at the audience (who he very nicely hands out earplugs to before the show).
