The Afghan Whigs, the ones who were strangely tied to the grunge scene despite wearing suits instead of flannel’s and producing some really compelling albums without being as commercially angry as some of the others - well, The Tripwire is reporting that they’re getting back together at a studio in Memphis to record a couple of songs for an upcoming compilation entitled Unbreakable.
But don’t think this means a tour… well, yet anyway. Former Whigs frontman, Greg Dulli, is also the lead man with The Twilight Singers who are booked up on tour through November.
I’d just like to say that usually I’m against great bands reforming - I think they do a great job of killing their legacy while cashing in (Jane’s Addiction, anyone?) - but I’d actually welcome a Whigs reunion. So, men, if you’re reading this… you have my blessing.
