And barely any capital letters, like it's e.e. cummings or something. Really, who does that? Nobody that writes for this site, I dare say!

hey hotshotrobot, we did the piece because we were told it was going to be a piece meant to inform those people who'd been hearing the term emo but didn't know what it was. For the honest to God discussion on this you should be talking to dave, not me, cause he talked for about 20 minutes about the subject. you can just post a comment or message or blog comment on our myspace and he'll respond. We viewed it as a chance to really explain to people what emo really is and how its been poorly used and misused lately. when we got the questions we were going to be asked, which we got about an hour before the shoot, the subject had turned from that into why kids are getting beat up cause their emo. that was all of about 5 minutes of the 2 hour interview we did, and most of what we said wasn't in the final piece. we talked about how those kids aren't emo, how those kids are labeled poorly, and how the scene has been getting a bad rap for this. We really truelly believed that we were getting a chance to put our feelings and knowledge about the music scene and the fact that it's been unappreciated and has been misclassified as of late under the almighty genre title of EMO. we know its not true, we said it isn't true, and all that was left out unfortunately. again, if you really want to discuss this with us u just have to go to our website, and again, talk to dave, he knows more about all of this than me. i never claimed to be an expert.

also, june was going to do the interview but an intern at FOX had been listening to us online and asked us to do it instead. we fealt we'd finally get to speak for kids like u and me and the rest of the us that feel we've been misquoted and misunderstood. sorry to have been a part of something that offended probably all 5 of your senses but then again, i'd be pissed too.

ps. we didn't have money for a real photoshoot and that's the prettiest looking place in the town we live in, honestly. and i'd have to say for photoshopping that train looks pretty damn good.

pps. band photos always suck. the other day i saw a band photo for Farewell that was them in a field...that just oozes with pop synth punk

ppppppps. the only reason that stuff about real world and our show with yellowcard is in there at the end is mark asked what we'd done in the last year, that's some of what we told him. no plug, no trying to seel records.

Yo Glenn,

Thanks for commenting! It's not surprising that local news misconstrued or misrepresented you guys--that was actually part of the point of the post, laughing at how local news does lazy segments like this to fill time and scare parents into tuning in for a ratings bump. One thing i'm curious about--why did you guys agree to do the piece? I mean, i'm assuming y'all knew that the news would totally cobble together a hack job. Was it for the free publicity? I'm not asking that in a judging way--there's about a 97% likelihood that my band would say yes to the same sort of thing, just because we'd have a good laugh after the fact!

But on a serious note, seriously, dude...train tracks? If it was a photoshop job where y'all were riding Randy Rhodes' guitar in the "Crazy Train" video...then maybe it'd be cool. ;)

to set the record straight, that train was a bitch to time out. i mean we jumped as soon as the pic was over and avoided impending doom just in time. FYI sarcasm is bliss and picking apart a bands photo is, well, pointless. I'll just start by adressing myself as the guitarist for Addison Park. Secondly, I, as do the rest of Addison Park respect all of your opinions and are open to discussing all of this with you.

We agree with most of you that this interview with FOX News completely misconstrued what EMO is and what we believe. of the 2 hours of footage shot for this segment all of what, 2 minutes was used? There was about a 20 minute discussion of what emo really is, where it comes from, why bands such as sunny day real estate and the promise ring became popular, and why bands now are mislabled emo. We discussed the fact that our influences as A POP PUNK BAND (a shocker, right?) included blink 182, New Found Glory, and Green Day. we never included these bands amongst the ranks of what bands are truely emo. We aren't going to get all teary eyed because of the fact that people don't like what we play or think we suck or whatever. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and god bless them for that. What we do want to make clear as that we were portrayed as musically ignorant n00bs, trying to plug shows and tv spots. The fact that we poured our hearts out about the music we love and look up to and respect for 2 hours was lost amongst anyi-social kids getting beat up and picked on in school. Yes, this is a problem that needs to be dealt with. Yes, we think that people are wrongly labeled as emo because they dress like Bless the Fall and like hardcore dancing. We don't call these kids emo. Some of them are scenesters who do it for the attention or the social scene. Some are scene kids who dress this way cause they love the fashion and the music, purely, and some are just kids who love music in general. we aren't here to label or give our opinion on what "emo kids" are and why "emo" gets kids beat up. It doesn't. douchebag elitist assholes who think they own the adolescent highs school hallways get kids who can't defend themselves beat up. It sux, and we hate that its been labled as a problem because of the music we love. It's not, and it shouldn't be considered this. If anyone wants to discuss with us what we really think about emo, what we really think about what happens with these kids, and what we think about any of this, or if anyone wants to just tell us what they think, good, bad, ugly, just go to www.myspace.com/addisonparkrock and talk to us. we listen, we respond, and we respect you all who respect us back.
