Snow Patrol Continues Quest to Take Over the Free World

Filed under News/Music News and News/Previews by magnumpr

Eyes Open is certified Triple Platinum and is days away from selling 1,000,000 copies. It is the second biggest selling album in the UK after the Arctic Monkeys and has hit the No.1 spot no less than 3 times since release in May.

The band will perform their new single “Set The Fire To The Third Bar,” featuring Martha Wainwright, on the UKChannel 4’s Live At Abbey Road (airing in November). The single will be released on the 13th of November.

Snow Patrol have also contributed a track to the Belle & Sebastian compiled Colours Are Brighter album - a charity album of children’s songs in aid of Save The Children - which is released on October 16th. Their rendition of “I Am An Astronaut” was recorded especially for this album.

I still think Final Straw is the best Snow Patrol album. The direction they’re going now seems a little…generic? Like, I read one review that asked the question, “Can anyone tell me what the drummer from Snow Patrol sounds like, except ProTools?” And I seriously couldn’t think of an answer.

That bothers me on a fundamental level.

You can sleep and be bored for free… I’d save the money and go to the mall and watch overly whiney indie kids. It will be the same experience roughly.
