so according to the nme, superstarcastic’s nemesis panic! at the disco has dropped the exclamation point from their name. henceforth they shall be known as the only slightly less annoying “panic at the disco.”
i would like to think that this is partly due to us and the huge amounts of ridicule we have thrown their way over the years. but however it came about, it is definitely a step in the right direction. i am sure their upcoming album will still suck though.

who can we make fun of now?
Sh-sh-sh Shark Attack!!!
or Clap! Clap!, but they’re (sadly) breaking up.
I can see it now. Next they’re going to change their name to Mild Disturbance at the Disco, then shorten it to Mild Disturbance, and then just Disturbance…which will cause the other, also horrendous Disturbed will sue. After all, Disturbed probably needs the money. The court case will last for years. The band formerly known as Panic at the Disco will have exactly zero time to record another song. Yes, this is certainly a step in the right direction.
Panic at the Disco totally sucks with or without punctuation, this is a given.
However, my myspace music section actually says “…and bands with exclamation points in their names.”
Here’s why:
Volcano, I’m Still Excited!!
That’s Him! That’s the Guy!
Pants Yell!
Los Campesinos!
Oh No! Oh My!
!!!
It may be an annoying trend but these are good bands, methinks.
They may be good bands (well, all of them except !!!, which i’ve actually seen live and felt like taking a nap after), but those names are awful awful awful. “Pants Yell!”? Really?
i saw oh no! oh my! last summer and i felt like a grandmother surrounded by their twee fans. teenyboppers! it was scary.

I’d be disappointed if their new album DIDN’T, frankly.
But still, it’s nice to know we’re making a positive difference in the world, one lame band at a time.
