Ehn, Delays did a diamond commercial and I still love ‘em. Though I really wish the ad execs had asked Rasputina to do it instead: “GIVE ME THE GODDAMN DIAMOND!!!”

but we’re not talking about the show’s quality, we’re talking about the songs. what, if you LIKE a show then it’s cool for the bands you dig to have a song used on it? so it’s a matter of personal preference, just like music is.

i’m not even sure if i agree with what i just said. just making the point. i do know that when my friends in bands have sold something or gotten exposure that way, i was happy for them because (in a perfect world) it gives them the assets to create more music that i like. it’s their choice to “sell out,” whatever that means, become heroin addicts, lame rock stars, etc.

now advertising is sketchier. cat power on a diamond commercial? EVILNESS!

The Poster Children had a song used on the OC, as did Milwaukee dance-punk band Temper Temper. Still, i’ll agree that being used on the OC gives the band the potential to be banned from the website–i.e. it’s not gonna get you banned by itself, but it’s not exactly gonna help your case.

I’m sorry, any show where that pretty boy playing Seth Cohen is supposed to be a “nerdy” type has lost me before i’ve started.

hi sasha, glad you stopped by and commented and all. yes, it’s the same band - i was prepared to dislike them because alphaville’s original is awesome and they didn’t give proper credit and all (imho). but i like this new record despite myself. email me your address and i will send you a mix with my current favourite song “sorry” on it.

commissar dave, i don’t agree. i’ve never even seen the show but whoever is choosing the music for it seems to know what they’re doing. don’t be a hater, yo.
